Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
  • Autobody Technician Journeyman Certificate (Completion of Journeyman Certificate that includes Prepper, Refinisher and Repairer) or equivalent education and experience
  • Complete working knowledge of the trade and related equipment along with the ability to apply the knowledge in diagnosis and repair work
  • Able to understand, communicate, read and write English at a level needed to meet job related task and safety requirements

Mechanic

Automotive Service Technician / Mechanic

The Automotive Mechanic at Herbers Autobody is responsible for assisting the Repair Planners with providing accurate mechanical estimates and servicing the damaged systems to ensure that vehicles are safe and operational after a collision.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team environment and feel motivated to strive for continuous improvement. We offer a stable work environment and the opportunity to advance within the company; other perks include Health & Dental Benefits, Vision Care and Disability coverage. Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, not including weekends. Light duty, in town work.

Responsibility:

  • Work with computer diagnostic programs as well as charts, technical manuals and experience to manage troubleshooting activities
  • Raise vehicles using hydraulic jack or hoist
  • Repair automotive systems including engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, breaking, air conditioning, etc. to specification
  • Complete preventive maintenance such as tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing and replacing filters
  • Replace and adjusts headlights; install and repair accessories, such as: radios, heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers
  • Perform wheel alignments
  • Reassemble, adjust and test the repaired mechanism

Accountability:

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • Adjust repaired systems to predefined specifications
  • Report all other damages to the vehicle whether they are accident related or not
  • Maintenance and housekeeping of the workstations; blow dust off complete car and sign the transfer documents
  • Follow the Codes of Practice and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including: coveralls, safety glasses, masks and gloves where applicable
  • Report any Safety Incidents, Accidents or Near Misses immediately; abide by our Health and Safety Program

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Automotive Service Technician / Mechanic or equivalent
  • Complete working knowledge of the trade and related equipment along with the ability to apply the knowledge in diagnosis and repair work
  • Able to understand, communicate, read and write English at a level needed to meet job related task and safety requirements
  • MUST have your own tools
  • The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental standards and procedures and a commitment to safe work habits
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and time management skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfil team objectives as an active positive employee and co-worker
  • Strength and stamina required to handle heavy tools, manual dexterity, creativity, patience and a keen eye for detail

Repair Planner (Estimator)

Job Description:

We are looking for a professional with the highest regard for customer service to write collision repair plans (estimates). Automotive service experience is required. Preference will be given to individuals with Autobody estimating experience. Strong computer skills are essential.

All estimates are scheduled by appointment and each vehicle is disassembled at the time of the appointment for accurate assessment. This is a unique opportunity for the qualified candidate that enjoys working in a team atmosphere and demonstrates honesty, stability and a good work ethic.

Branch Leaders (Managers)

Branch Leaders do it all. They are responsible for all employees in the shop, and as such, need a working understanding of all roles in the organization. Leaders will help prepare repair plans (estimates), deal with escalated customer service issues, plan and execute daily production meetings, and ensure quality control and cycle time targets are met.
